Sweet Potato Fry Recipe

A fact that’s difficult to believe …..French fry is not French. The French gave the world the hot air balloon and the sewing machine but not the French fries. The origins of the French fry have been traced back to Belgium, where historians claim potatoes were being fried in the late-1600s as a substitute for fried fish. The stark winters of Meuse Valley froze the rivers and hence the villagers began to fry potatoes to keep themselves warm and going.

World War I introduced the potato fry to the American soldiers who were stationed in Belgium. The Official language of the Belgian army was French and thus the soldiers christened the delicious fries as ‘French Fries” which remains till date and is a most popular American snack that’s consumed by people of all ages.
