Nellikai Sadam / Amla Rice Recipe

Ingredients for Nellikai Sadam:

  • Raw rice cooked 1 c
  • Grated amla 3
  • Chopped green chilly 3
  • Curry leaf and coriander chopped 1 tbsp
  • Sesame oil 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Black gram dal and Bengal gram dal 1 tsp each
  • Asafoetida 1 tsp

Preparation Method for Nellikai Sadam:

  • Take a heavy-bottomed pan. Add oil and splutter mustard. Fry dals till golden brown and add asafoetida followed by chillies and curry leaf.
  • Add grated amla and saute for about 5 minutes. Add cooked rice, required amount of salt, and mix well. Cook covered for 5 minutes.
  • Remove and serve.
