Ingredients for Appam/Aappam Recipe
- 2 cups raw rice
- 1/2 boiled rice
- 1 cup rice flakes /aval
- 1/2 tsp yeast
- 1 cup grated coconut
- salt as required
- 1 tsp sugar.
- Oil for pan-frying
Preparation Method
- Wash and soak both the rice varieties in safe water for 4 hours.
- Grind to a smooth paste with all the other ingredients. Allow fermenting for 8 hours.
- Adjust the batter to a pouring consistency.
- Pour a ladle of batter into an appam pan. Twirl such that the batter spreads around.
- Drizzle some oil on the sides.
- Allow to cook till the edges turn crisp.
- Remove and serve hot
