Easy Paruppu Usili…. Not compromising on the taste or texture. A great accompaniment to a South Indian meal.
Ingredients for Paruppu Usili Recipe
- Tuvar dal /red gram dal 1/2 cup
- Channa dal/Bengal gram dal 1/2cup
- Red chilly 3-4
- Curry leaves few
- Asafoetida a pinch
- Turmeric powder a pinch
- Cluster beans/kothavarangai 1/4kg
- Mustard seeds 1 tsp
- Salt as required
- Oil 2 tbsp
Preparation Method:
- Wash the dals, add 2 cups of water and turmeric and cook till half done on open pan.
- Wash and chop the cluster beans and parboil with a pinch of salt.
- Drain the cooked dal and grind coarse with red chilly and curry leaves.
- Take a heavy-bottomed pan.
- Add oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add the asafoetida follows by the dal mixture.
- Saute well for about 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped vegetables.
- Mix well and saute till the dal and vegetables combine well and become dry.
- Add the salt and saute for another 2 minutes.
- Remove from flame and serve.
- Pairs best with morekuzhambu, rasam, and curd rice.
