It was 8 years ago, in the early hours of the evening that this tiny bundle of strawberry and cream was deposited in my arms.- A Day of great jubilation and celebration, I held him with great pride, my heart brimming with joy…A Day that I cherish with a special place for him always in my heart. The past 7 years this special day has been lovingly planned and executed by Hema Ravi. The cake themes would reflect his current love and craze. This year the celebration was advanced, and this little boy was like Willy Wonka at the Chocolate Boutique Fabelle, ITC Chola, Chennai.
Reminiscing about the past joyous years with him, Today I felt this boy has grown up Responsible, caring, appreciative, decisive all dotted with occasional childlike tantrums. ..Yes, he is still a child-A child who can a recommend movie watch for me, A child who is proud of Foodialogues and reads it and propagates it with pride whenever he gets a chance, a child who is a protective brother at the same loves to annoy the little one, a child who dotes on his mother and who silently misses his father whenever he is away with a knack of “the nag factor”, a child who thinks the world of his grandparents, a child who role models his uncle and looks up to his aunt for her appreciation and approval. Abundant love and blessings to you little one from all of us.
Foodialogues brings to you his favourite movie night combo – creamy vegetable pasta courtesy Foodialogues, homemade sourdough garlic bread courtesy his father Arun Ravi, and a creamy dip courtesy his mother Hema Ravi.
VEGETABLE PASTA RECIPE
Ingredients for Vegetable Pasta:
- Wheat pasta 1 cup
- Cubed vegetables 1 cup (broccoli/coloured bell peppers/peas/sweet corn)
- Sliced onions 1 medium
- Crushed garlic 2 pods
- Butter 1 tbsp
- Peppercorn crushed ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Milk ½ c
- Cheese grated ¼ c
- Maida/wheat flour 1 tsp
Preparation Method for Vegetable Pasta:
- Cook the pasta al dente and in 3 cups of water. Drain and set it aside.
- Pan-roast the vegetables till crisp in a spoon of butter and set aside.
- Take a heavy-bottomed pan. Add the remaining butter, add in the crushed garlic, sliced onions, and fry till light brown. Now add the flour and fry well. Gently pour in the milk with constant stirring. Add the salt and cook till thick on low flame.
- Add the cheese and mix well.
- Now add the pasta and vegetables and mix well. Cook for a minute on low flame and remove. Serve hot.
GARLIC BREAD RECIPE
Ingredients for Garlic Bread:
- Sourdough bread slices
- Cheese grated
- Mixed spice powder
- Garlic powder
- Chilly flakes optional
- Butter
Preparation Method for Garlic Bread:
- Lightly butter the sourdough slices
- Sprinkle the cheese, garlic powder, spice powder, and chilly flakes as needed.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius till the cheese melts (approximately 8 minutes)
CREAM DIP RECIPE
Ingredients for Cream Dip:
- Thick curd 1 c
- Lemon juice 1 tsp
- Finely chopped garlic 2 tsp
- Fresh cream 2 tbsp
- Salt as required.
Preparation Method for Cream Dip:
- Whisk together cream and thick curds. Add the garlic and lemon juice. Sprinkle some salt to suit your taste.
- Leave this creamy mixture overnight in the refrigerator until use. Whisk and serve.
- An excellent dip for chips, toasted bread, courgettes etc. You can use this as a sandwich spread, pita filling and paratha spread.
