Onion Chutney Recipe (Without Tomatoes)

Ingredients for Onion Chutney (Without tomatoes)

  • Small onions (sambhar onions) peeled 1 c
  • Tamarind 1 marble size
  • Red chilly 8
  • Curry leaf few
  • Sesame oil 3 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida 1 tsp
  • Salt as required

Preparation Method for Onion Chutney (Without tomatoes)

  • Grind onions, tamarind, and red chilly into a smooth paste.
  • Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Splutter mustard, add Asafoetida and curry leaves. Add the groundpaste and the required salt.
  • Cook on low flame with intermittent stirring till oil leaves the sides of the chutney.


NOTE

  • You can add a small piece of jaggery if you wish to.
  • You can add some garlic pods if you like the taste. If you are adding garlic increase the chilly by 1 or 2 pieces.
