Ingredients for Onion Chutney (Without tomatoes)
- Small onions (sambhar onions) peeled 1 c
- Tamarind 1 marble size
- Red chilly 8
- Curry leaf few
- Sesame oil 3 tbsp
- Mustard seeds 1 tsp
- Asafoetida 1 tsp
- Salt as required
Preparation Method for Onion Chutney (Without tomatoes)
- Grind onions, tamarind, and red chilly into a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Splutter mustard, add Asafoetida and curry leaves. Add the groundpaste and the required salt.
- Cook on low flame with intermittent stirring till oil leaves the sides of the chutney.
NOTE
- You can add a small piece of jaggery if you wish to.
- You can add some garlic pods if you like the taste. If you are adding garlic increase the chilly by 1 or 2 pieces.
