Carbohydrates are an important part of a healthy diet and are the main source of fuel for our brain and muscles. Potatoes are loaded with complex carbohydrates and are naturally rich in vitamins and minerals and fiber. Today’s recipe features a delicious paratha made with a combination of mashed potatoes and whole wheat flour. Delicately flavored with native spices these hot round discs form an apt wholesome meal any day.
Ingredients for Masala Potato Paratha:
- Potato mashed 1 cup
- Wheat flour 1 cup
- Turmeric 1 tsp
- Red chilly powder 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds 1 tsp
- Ajwai /carrom seeds 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves 1 tbsp
- Oil as required for smearing and pan fry
- Salt as required
Preparation Method:
- Mix all the above except oil into a soft dough. Don’t use water.
- Cover and keep for 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 12 balls.
- Dip each ball in dry flour and roll into discs.
- Smear a teaspoon of oil on the surface.
- Fold into a square and roll again as shown in the picture.
- Cook it on a hot griddle with a teaspoon of oil till well cooked on both sides.
- Serve hot with pickle /chutney or raitha of your choice
