Road trips, music, and wayside restaurants are a great combination. The moment my family begins to plan a short vacation, the first on the list is to check whether we can motor by road within a time period of a maximum of 10 hours. The reason for this time curfew is the comfort of the two little ones who are also a part of the travel. Next comes the eateries on the highway and finally, each one’s blockbuster hit list, that’s given to our official DJ…. My daughter-in-law Hema Ravi. An eatery that we always prefer for breakfast when we are on NH 44 is the one at Salem junction… Sri saravana bhavan asai dosai.
We were quite apprehensive about eating in this not-so-familiar restaurant when we stopped here for the first time about 3 years ago.
Relying on the Google and Zomato ratings we stepped inside. The restaurant surprised us with its totally different menu. Millets, whole wheat, native rice varieties, and natural sweeteners were used in most of their preparations including sweets and baked products. After a delicious eating experience, we now plan our departure in such a way that we are at this restaurant for breakfast.
During our last visit a couple of months back I had ordered for a trio dosa…. Kollu dosa/ horse gram dosa, Beetroot dosa, and murunga keerai dosa/ drumstick dosa. Paired with different chutnies the combination was very tasty and satisfying. A big bowl of fresh amlas were given as a takeaway due to the Covid times.
