Bruschetta (singular) /Bruschette (plural) are slices of toast with a topping and a generous drizzle of olive oil. The classic recipe is the one topped with tomatoes, garlic, and basil.
Bruschetta has a long history. It dates back to the Etruscans or the ancient Romans and this anytime snack fed the labourers and farmers for centuries. A days-old stale bread was converted into a hearty meal that saw them through their tough tasks. This simple appetizer/snack is a colour pallete where imagination is the limit.
Ingredients for Tomato Bruschetta:
- BREAD SLICES
- TOMATOES CHOPPED
- BASIL LEAVES FEW
- CHOPPED CORIANDER
- PEPPER CRUSHED
- GRATED CHEESE
- SALT
- OLIVE OIL
- BUTTER
Preparation Method:
- Butter the slices of bread and toast them crisp and brown,
- Top the slices with tomatoes, few basil leaves, chopped coriander, grated cheese.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper as required.
- Drizzle olive oil liberally and bake at 180 degrees centigrade till the tomatoes wilt and cheese melts.
