Arbi Masala Roast Recipe (Seppankizhangu Roast) | Air fried Recipe

Arbi or Taro, is thought to be the oldest cultivated plant in the world, being cultivated in Asia for more than ten thousand years. Its culinary use is similar to that of a potato. A rich source of carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, this root stabilizes blood pressure in moderate and continuous consumption.

Colocasia tuber can result in mild toxicity symptoms if consumed raw or in an undercooked state due to the presence of calcium oxalate crystals. They can cause a pricking sensation in the mouth, tongue, and throat, and hence care should be taken to ensure that the tuber is well cooked before consumption.

The quick yet tasty Sunday recipe is a healthy air-fried Colocasia masala roast. The corms are boiled, and air fried with a generous coating of spices, thus making them absolutely safe for a delicious meal.

Ingredients for Arbi Masala Roast (Seppankizhangu Roast):

  • Arbi/Colacasia/Sembu 250g
  • Red chilly powder 1tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Salt as required
  • Sambar powder 1tsp
  • Oil 1 tsp

Preparation Method for Arbi Masala Roast (Seppankizhangu Roast):

  • Wash and Boil the Colocasia till cooked. you can pressure cook it for 2 whistles.
  • Drain and peel.
  • Slice the Colocasia to the thickness that you prefer.
  • Mix in all the spices along with oil and toss well such that the pieces are coated well.
  • Are fry in a preheated air frier at 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes or till crip.
  • Remove and serve as a snack or a meal accompaniment.
