Healthy Meal Plate

A much-awaited late-night movie watch in a theatre after ages. We prefer the time because the kids snuggle in the gold seat and are in their dreamland. Much has changed with theatres today…..jazzy decors, lavish seats, plenty of food options, services befitting a king….. and not to forget even the humble popcorn has had a makeover. From small plastic pouches it’s the disposable buckets in myriad flavours, loaded with all that a cardiologist would not approve of.

It was the period of the great depression. Economy was at the bottom and consumer spending was at a minimum. The theatre and popcorn industry decided to team up. Popcorns which were cheap and easy to make, helped theatre owners to lure the crowd. The links grew stronger and by the 1950s, popcorn had become synonymous with going to a movie theatre.

Popcorn with their savoury aroma, crunchy bites, and salty kick is a whole-grain food. It is nutrient loaded with vitamins, minerals, fibre, polyphenol antioxidants and not to forget its low calories. A word of caution ….all of popcorn’s healthy qualities can be impacted by its preparation method, add- on substances, and quantity consumed. When fresh kernels are air-popped its low in calories. The fats, sugars, and other artificial mimics make it unhealthy. Take care while buying a bucket or combos such as a bucket and a fizzy drink.

Portion size is the key to healthy eating be it at home or outside. Foods by themselves are healthy but care has to be taken in their method of preparation and quantity consumed. Foodialogues brings to you a healthy plate loaded with just the right portions for an adult meal. The plate encompasses ajwain paratha, potato sabji, black nightshade green raitha, Maharashtrian pitla, green chilly theecha, and some cucumber slices. A wholesome satiating meal with just the right portioning. this meal plate can be easily transformed into a “weight loss meal” by just removing a paratha.
