Rajma Masala and rice …a childhood memory that I would like to cherish. Nostalgic about the exciting evenings when rajma masala was prepared as an accompaniment to rotis or pulkhas. There would always be a bowl of fragrant basmathi cooked to perfection just for me. I have always preferred rice to rotis and loved polishing rice with Rajma, chole, and Punjabi khadi.

Here is a delicious Rajma Masala spiced with homemade Rajma masala powder served along with a generous portion of rice …. simply soulful and sumptuous on a rainy day.

Plain Basmathi Rice Making:

  • Basmathi rice 1 cup
  • Water 2.5 cups
  • Ghee 1 tsp
  • Salt a pinch

Preparation Method:

  • Wash and drain the rice.
  • Take a heavy-bottomed pan. Add ghee and sauté the rice till chalky.
  • Add the water and salt. Cook on sim till done.
  • Serve hot with a curry of your choice.
