Vegetable Rava Kichadi

Ingredients for Vegetable Rava Kichadi

  • Bombay rava/suji  1 cup
  • Diced vegetables 2 cups
  • Tomato 2 medium chopped
  • Green chilly 4
  • Ginger chopped fine 1-inch piece
  • Curry leaves 1 sprig
  • Coriander leaves finely chopped a handful 
  • Oil 2 tbsps
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Bengal gram dal 1 tbsp
  • Black gram dal 1 tbsp
  • Asafoetida 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Ghee 1 tbsp 
  • Water boiling hot 3 cups

Preparation Method:

  • Take a heavy-bottomed pan place it on the stove and add oil. 
  • Once the oil is hot add mustard seeds and allows them to splutter. 
  • Add the dals and asafoetida. 
  • When the dals brown, add green chilly, ginger and curry leaves. 
  • Saute for a minute and add all the vegetables. Saute for 5 minutes. 
  • Add the tomatoes followed by turmeric powder and salt as required. 
  • Saute, cover and cook till vegetables are done. 
  • Add the rava and saute for 5 minutes. 
  • Add boiling water and cook till the uppma is soft cooked. 
  • Add ghee and coriander and remove from fire.
  • Serve hot with chutney of your choice.
