Day 5 Navarathri… On this auspicious Maha panchami day let us welcome the goddess in her resplendent form of Skandamaatha. Holding Lord Karthikeya on her lap, the mudras of this benevelont goddess indicate fearlessness. The neivedhyam today is the banana halwa, puliodharai, and curd rice.

BANANA HALWA
Preparation Time : 20 mins
Servings – 4
INGREDIENTS
- BANANA PULP GOT FROM 3 BIG BANANAS – 1 CUP
- RAVA /SOOJI – 1/4 CUP
- MILK – 2 CUPS
- SUGAR – 1/4CUP
- GHEE – 2 TBSPS
- CASHEWS – FEW
- SAFFRON – A FEW STRANDS
METHOD
- Take a heavy bottomed pan.(I prefer to use a non stick)
- Add ghee and the banana pulp.
Keep stirring till the pulp is well fried. This will take about 5 minutes. - Add the rava and keep stirring till the rava gets half cooked in the banana pulp.
- Add the milk, dimmer the flame, cover and cook till the milk evaporates.
- Add the sugar and stir to avoid any lump formation.
- When the halwa begins to leave the sides of the pan sprinkle the saffron and roasted cashews.
- Remove and serve hot or cold.
